Our Goa folding screen has a special place in our catalogue because we love its threefold use: aesthetic, practical and symbolic.The folding screen is now a very little-used decorative accessory, but it stems from an ancestral Chinese tradition that made its way to the East and then to Europe in the 17th century.

Folding screens have a symbolic origin, as their role was to protect against demons. From a practical point of view, it was used to protect against draughts, as its name suggests, but also to isolate a space for greater privacy, or to discreetly conduct business or political discussions. Its aesthetics are not outdone either, especially at Starbay, since our folding screen is made of very beautiful solid wood slats varnished in our own way, a real craftsman's job that we have the taste for.
