BIARRITZ-GAZETTE
Today, Sunday August 14, is born a new a little paper with a title befitting Biarritz: La Plage. We're told it will be sprightly and hard-working. We warmly welcome it.
La Frontera (a Franco-Spanish newspaper) complains about the dust on the road from Biarritz to Bayonne. The municipality has done everything it was supposed to do in this case. The fault now lies with the Pont-et-chaussées, who have forgotten the appropriations earmarked for watering the road.
Biarritz also generally complains about the quality and quantity of its gas. We know that many streets and stores are in need of lighting. Several councillors have decided to request termination of the town's contract with the gas authority if this state of affairs continues. We highly endorse them.
Complaint after complaint: We have received letters to the effect that some bakers in Biarritz are currently delivering bread that is badly baked, unhealthy to eat, and in any case in a state that deserves the attention of those who care about their stomachs. Come on, bakers, don't let your ears be pulled if what we're saying here is true. If it isn't, prove us wrong. We're ready to give a formal denial to your detractors!
