.Art.1. When the new guard will be approaching the changing post, the officer or non-commissioned officer in command will have it bear arms and order the drummer or bugler, if any, to beat or sound the march. Art.2. The officer or non-commissioned officer commanding the old guard will immediately have it take up arms, and arrange it in such a way as to leave the necessary ground on the left for the new guard to form up. Art.3. Guards composed of only six men will form a hedge; those of more than six, in two ranks, and those of eighteen and above, in three ranks. The three-row formation will only be executed by troops who do not follow the ordinance or instruction of the Vincennes chasseurs.
